Boylesports Fined £2.8 Million for AML Failures

The UK Gambling Commission has imposed a financial penalty of £2.8 million on Boylesports Enterprise t/a Boylesports.com (the Licensee) for breaching licence conditions related to anti-money laundering (AML) and prevention of terrorist financing. The Commission found that the Licensee violated licence conditions 12.1.1 (paragraphs 1-3) and 12.1.2, which are aimed at ensuring gambling is fair, safe, and crime-free. In addition to the financial penalty, the Commission has decided to issue a warning under section 117(1)(a) of the Gambling Act 2005 (the Act) and attach additional conditions to the Licensee’s operating licence under section 117(1)(b) of the Act. The Licensee cooperated with the investigation and acknowledged the failings from the outset.

BoyleSports on Bank Statement

When engaging in online gambling activities, it is essential to be aware that the transaction on your bank statement might not directly display the name of the gambling site you used, but rather the name of the operator. For instance, if you deposit money at BoyleSports, which has multiple active domains such as boylesports.com, boylecasino.com, and boylevegas.com, the transaction on your bank statement might not show ‘BoyleSports’ but instead display the name of the operator managing the site. This can sometimes cause confusion for gamblers who don’t recognize the transaction, but it is a standard practice within the online gambling industry. It is important to familiarize yourself with the operators managing your preferred gambling sites to avoid any confusion regarding transactions on your bank statement.
